DPubS Planning Conference

An Executive Summary of the DPubS planning meeting can be found here.

In October 2004, Cornell University Library hosted a conference to build support for the DPubS development project and to solicit advice and expressions of interest. The meeting highlighted proposed new features for development in DPubS and reviewed the functionality necessary and most appropriate to each new feature. The meeting also solicited suggestions regarding features that were not presently envisioned. There was also discussion focused on strategic planning for the rollout and testing of the open source software.

Discussions were lively and enthusiastic, as participants broadly agreed on the need for affordable publishing tools in academia.

Attendees at the Planning Meeting included over 40 participants from 5 countries; 16 academic libraries and university presses were represented.

We would like to sincerely thank those who took part in the DPubS Planning Meeting for their exceptional feedback, dedication, and their critical role in forging DPubS into an extraordinary way to publish scholarly research. We could not have done it without them.
